Windscreen glass

Recommended Posts

I took frame + old glass to a windscreen specialist (probably auto windscreens?) who also does plant glass (diggers etc). He said old gass (if in 1 piece) or frame could be used as a template.

Theoretically, to pass the mot, it should have a kitemark on the glass somewhere visible -check they can do this either with a sticker or etch.

A few years ago I think it was £40 or therabouts.

I got RAC Autowindsreens to do this for me in October, as previously said they cut a piece of laminated glass to size and fitted it for me, it cost just over £40.

They did have trouble getting the slighly thicker glass into the rubber off the off screen and had to remove the rubber on the tight curves and put in Black Winscreen mastik instead.

For my car they cut the piece of glass so the kitemark was left in the bootom nearside corner.

Far cheaper than £200 from Caterham
