With radius arms, the upper postition causes more (but gentle) roll induced oversteer. The lower position make the car slighly more "knife edge"

With the Watts link, neither postion has any affect over the other on steering. Check the axle can more through its full axis of movement. On 1993 chassis the lower position caused the trailing end of the radius arm to clout the chassis. This was addressed in the '94 spec chassis which has the rear arch opening tube set further back.

Interesting question Fred,

I presume your asking if the lower front location point can be used with the Watts link......

Has anyone tried this?

I know that since my 98R chassis the A frame and A frame front location points have been changed about, I have the reversible A frame that locates below the main frame, but some racers had bolt on locaters that bolted on at the A/bar mounts and the non reversible A frame.

This may have a baring on the possible Watts front location.

Where is your A frame front mounting located?

Lawrence

Aha! that where the racers had them relocated to...

You must have the very latest chassis then.....

So has anyone tried the bottom front mountings with the watts link?

Fred,

The Wats link is a variable length link, therefore roll will not infulence the axles poition side to side and hence not cause rear axle steer.

Put it where the assembly guide says. If they say their is a "race" position ask them to qualify what the effect is.
