Violet Elizabeth Posted March 2, 2002 Share Posted March 2, 2002 Looks like my front left brake is sticking (or something). Causing car to pull left, and brake pad to smoke rather a lot. For a non-technical person, is they any simple way to get this unstuck ? More at a "hit with a hammer" type solution than "take the brake system to bits " is my level of ability. Fred Posted March 2, 2002 Share Posted March 2, 2002 Too dangerous a fault to just hit with a hammer, if you are not mechanically minded, it is best to get the job done properly. The reasons for this could be the seized piston inside caliper, break pads worn down, allowing the piston to dislodge or corrosion on the piston. Also if the breakes were binding and smoking, you may have hardened up the rubber seals in the caliper, which would then leak at any time, - no simple solution! fredid=blue> smile.gif Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
