Whilst you raised the question (and a very valid one too) and have recieved the answer you wanted, there may be others who come along later and want to add an opposing view/theory or addition useful information. If you close the thread they can't do this and to open another thread puts it out of context, so the additional contributions are lost which will only be of detriment to others following this thread and those who find it through a search and read it in the future.
