Wheel Offsets

Having been convinced to swop my original 16" Wheels for a set of 13", and opt for 6" on the front and 7" on the rear I'm now confused by "offsets". I know this subject has been discussed at great length, but having just searched, most comments say "make sure you get the right offsets" but don't say what the correct ones are. Apparently the KN wheels supplied through Rob Morris were ET 23 for 6" fronts and ET 18 for 7" rears. Superlite have told me ET 23 for 6" fronts but say "rear space is 94mm giving a 6 negative offset". I have also heard of ET19 being used for 6" fronts and ET25 for 7" rears.

Can anyone give me a clear simple answer?
