BlueShark Posted February 26, 2002 Share Posted February 26, 2002 Well, I had a rolling road tune done recently and my Vx HPC ran OK for two days. Then left it for a week, now it hardly starts, seems like it's running on 2 or 3 cylinders, and has lost virtually all power, to the extent that it is almost impossible to pull away from standstill. (loud popping/banging) It could be a plug gone, I had this happen, but it caused all sorted of loud noises from the exhaust and the guy up the road could tell I wasn't going far and came out to help push it back in the garage. Check seal around carbs - if you have them - and HT leads for cracks/holes... and then wait for a VX expert to arrive say what it is for sure....! forgot - can you easily check your timing marks? although it isn't likely to have changed of its own cause (you need an idiot like me to let the cams move one tooth!) Rarely need them but they have saved me an AA call on occasion - like the time I got water down the plug holes and had only one cylinder left!!! Given the plugs are at the very top of the enging the rest of the car must have been totally submerged or were you simply a little over enthusiastic with a power washer? stevefoster Posted February 28, 2002 Share Posted February 28, 2002 Alex, were you using a the central spark plug cover or not when you had the problem? I thought about removing it.
