Area Representative Piers300 Posted September 9, 2006 Area Representative Share Posted September 9, 2006 I have an 1985 Supersprint which I have had from new. The indicator lights come on on, but don't flash, when indicating left or right, with or without the engine running. The Hazard lights all flash OK. I've tried fiddleing with the haszard switch - no effect. I have changed the flasher unit. No difference. So I must assume a bad earth. So where do I look, as the hazard lights make the indicators flash OK. Any help gratefully received. Piers
CageyH
If the Hazards work, I doubt you have a bad earth. May be the indicator relay or switch to relay wiring?
Area Representative Piers300 Posted September 10, 2006 Author Area Representative Share Posted September 10, 2006 I have spent a bit of time this morning looking at this problem and find there is more to it than I first thought. Recently, I had to fit a new alterantor, as I broke the top fixing lug on the old one. The Red light does not come on when the ignition is switched on or the engine switched off. The alternator supplied by Red Line has what looks like an earth terminal. The old (and new) alternator had just the three main connections, so I have refited it in the same way. The battery seems to be fully charged. I did about a 20 mile trip round Canterbury yesterday and I have changed over the plug in fuses with no difference. Any one have any ideas ?
