chris d
I have just bought my first Caterham, a 2002 1.6 K-series and was hoping someone could recommend a performance air filter to replace the worn existing standard Caterham one. Thanks.
Roadsport06
I brought an air filter from pipercross whilst on my build, as mine is a 1.8 non vvc but with the vvc plenum with the Caterham air filter it was rubbing on the brake pipe running on the footwell. Go to pipercross.net and have a look. Then give them a call as they are very helpful. I paid £50, I don't know if the airfilter makes any difference in performance but I didnt want a leaky brake pipe BRG and Yellow nose VU06 XZX
CageyH
Should be able to get a K&N cheaper than £50. You need one with a 76mm inlet. Either an RB-0900 or RB-0910 from here if you want a round one, depending on power output. If it is a standard 1.6, the RB-0900 should be fine A stupid man's report of what a clever man says can never be accurate, because he unconsciously translates what he hears into something he can understand. -- Bertrand Russell
tricky dicky
Caterham one is a pipercross if I'm not mistaken, I'm sure the std unit is less than £50. Rich
Roadsport06
Your right, the standard one is pipercross and probably less than £20 even, mine was the carbon fibre velocity intake on as it narrowed on the end so didnt rub my brake pipe. Support Team Shaun_E Posted September 4, 2006 Support Team Share Posted September 4, 2006 The standard Caterham air filter for K-series engines is from Pipercross and is good for well over 200bhp (works fine on my 227bhp engine) and is £31.73 from Caterham (see here). Alternatively you can clean and re-oil the one you have but for the price it's probably not worth it. Yellow SL #
