Area Representative dikko Posted September 1, 2006 Area Representative Share Posted September 1, 2006 In recognition of the Lotus Seven and what it did for racing beginners in the 50's - some going on to become World Champions - The Historic Sports Car Club of GB are considering running a celebratory Lotus Seven race at their 'SuperPrix' meeting on the GP Track in July 2007 at Brands Hatch. Anyone interested in competing in what they think might be an eligible car (possible separate class for non-standard Sevens) and have a race licence should in the first instance contact Dick Dixon on herts.lotus@virgin.net or 01920 871153 before plans for the meeting are discussed at the end of October. fatcat
would current model caterham race cars be eligible or are you looking at historics only ?
Area Representative dikko Posted September 2, 2006 Author Area Representative Share Posted September 2, 2006 Caterhams were considered but felt not quite right for an 'Historic' event even though they're great for racing and they are not far off historic dating now.... no, Lotus Sevens preferably raced as in period spec but classes will be considered to fit any changes to cars since. There may be a parade organized too if any other non-race Lotus 7 owners are interested. DD
Area Representative dikko Posted January 1, 2007 Author Area Representative Share Posted January 1, 2007 Update. Jan 07. So far we have the possibility of a group of Seven racers from France coming over but no English Seven owners have enquired. Still time yet to lay out the programme for their inclusion in this prestigious race meeting. Any takers?
MartinWoodham
If 2004 cars are allowed I'll put my name down. BTW it's the 50th anniversary this year, not the 40th.
