Sill Protector Fitting

Chelspeed

Recommended Posts

I've just bought some sill protectors.

I was just about to fit them behind the normal wrinkle coated aluminium side panels when I had a thought. The bit that goes behind the side panel is much longer than it needs to be. Are they intended to go over the side panel rather than behind it?

I had the same thought when I built my car and considered both options... but ended up with the long edge on the hidden side and it does look much better.

Given that it's only there to protect the top edge anyway from clumsy feet or elbow marks, it doesn't really much difference protection-wise so go with the looks!

They have a long edge becuase thats the way the stainless ones are...... And the first set of carbon ones Caterham ever saw were sold to them by guess who.....

I guess the stainless ones were 2" long on the hidden side, because no-one could be bothered to measure the rivett positions. THey obsure the petty strut forward mount niceley too if you have an FIA bar!
