DaveMorris
Owner of an SPC semi-helical. Works fine. Slightly noisier than std type 9 - though in 4th it's fine (funny that 😬) You can try it out if you like (same offer to Brent), though I do appreciate that mine's a x-flow, yours is a K, and Brents is some mad-ass expensive new fangled thing. All these engines have different characteristics so difficult to compare gearboxes really. What Malcolm REALLY needs is : Anyone out there in N.Wales area with an SPC boxed K series or BGH boxed K series (pref both) which have long(er) 1st gears. Malcolm has a 4.1 diff so (IMO) would be able to take the longer first with no real difficulty. Dave
dannylt
I must admit, I've only ever driven my Caterham on the road. It's really not that bad. But maybe I should avoid having a ride in another one in case my expectations change too much . AMMO, fancy lending me your car while you refresh mine? 😬

Alex Wong1697456877
I had one of the first semi-helicals from Steve. Never had a prob with it. It's a very good gearbox for Vx/Ford 7's that are mostly for road use + occasional trackdays. 4th is silent as it's effectively a straight through connection rather than through the gears. the other gears are audible, but only if you're pootling along. It's not an intrusive noise at all. No experience of BGH but have nothing but good to say about SPC and Steve (although sometimes, it's not a good idea not to call him if you're in a hurry!) I.Mupferit
Taking up Alex comment about Steve Perks, have you ever noticed how all the good guys who do specialist work for the kit car industry and are all highly regarded, all have this innate ability to talk the hind legs off a donkey ❗ 😬 James Whiting Steve Perks Gary May Pete McEwen and of course, our very own.........AMMO I'm sure there are many others but the above are just the ones I know and they can all talk for England or maybe Italy in AMMO's case, and NZ in Pete McEwens. 😬 All good blokes too, so maybe it goes with the job. Anyhow, sorry to digress but just an observation. AMMO
Brent Have just been talking the hind legs off a donkey with Chris at BGH Geartech. I have suggested a mod to the gearbox which may work. Off for a drive now to give him more info on noise on my box to try to identify exactly what is happening. AMMO
I.Mupferit
😬I hope it works AMMO. Maybe I shouldn't have been so hasty putting my engine back in again. Brent 2.3 DURATEC SV Reassuringly Expensive R 417.39 😬
