Peter T
Core is leaking and Radtec won't repair it, barely used and looks new *mad* Don't think they are having my business again, customer service? Any better makes out there? R500 Mango Madness

simonbell
Likewise Mine is weeping and I haven`t had a chance to send it back yet, they said they would have a look at it but given the experience of others it sounds like it may be a waste of time. If it`s not sorted I`ll take my business elsewhere........8000 miles and 18 months is pretty poor from my point of view. Peter T
Thanks, did not read that, sounds like a common problem? It is easy for them to pass the blame onto a component they do not make, but if it was my business i would want much better quality!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Radtec could be getting a bad name for poor quality products! My money is not going in their pocket, and i will not recommend them either. Tim Brise will be getting a call, nothing but praise for that business. R500 Mango Madness
DaveMorris
Concerned about this as I have recently organised a bulk buy with them. I've not experienced problems. The first one failed to leak even after impacting a tree at ~50mph and becoming somewhat "distorted" I'll keep a wary eye out from now on though, Dave
mav
Just out of interest, how are the rads that are leaking mounted to the chassis? I use the rubber bobbins to mount mine. I'm just wondering if the ones that are failing are mounted directly to the chassis with no vibration isolation?
Peter T
Mounted on bobbins. R500 Mango Madness
PAUL MARRIOTT
Don't forget that the Caterham triple pass rads don't have a very good history either. Rad tec on mine has lasted 2 years without problem. Paul M
Peter T
But you think 2 years is good? I would expect 5-10 years, why do they not last as long as normal cars? Stone damage aside? R500 Mango Madness
Peter T
So should i expect radiator costs at £100+ per anum at 3000 miles? Not exactly good value? R500 Mango Madness
Mick Day
Pace would be another place to look as well as Brise. So far, touch wood, my 3 month old Radtec is still OK..................is that a record?
PAUL MARRIOTT
No I don't think that 2 yrs is good, but it's 2yrs and going strong, for a standard tin top I'd be peed off if it didn't last for life, but I can only note my experiance to date and that there are problems with an alternative being considered. rgrigsby
Mines about 2 years old and still going strong Rob G www.SpeedySeven.com
Mick Day
One thing to bear in mind is stone damage as most Caterham grills have holes big enough to let half bricks through. Maybe the aluminium is more suseptable to damage compared to the standard offering?
mav
I swapped my std Caterham Ali rad for a radtec last year for the usa trip. No problems with either so far. I did a fair bit of research on the options you mention Peter, and Brise and Pace were both very expensive / not economical. Pace make, (or made / designed, not sure if they still do) the caterham rad.

simonbell
Mine is mounted on bobbins and it`s not stone damage, its leaking on the inside on both sides..........defintiely wouldn`t recommend them Simon Bell - Caterham 7 Duratec R I`ve seen the future.....and it`s powered by duratec Check out the website here
dannylt
My caterham race rad solidly mounted started leaking, so have replaced with a Pace on bobbins. Just remember to ask them for a weird sized bung they don't include!
