N1ck
Just been out for a run today and everything fine until ☹️ stopped to drop something off at home and tried to re-start car. Fuel pump not working. Engine turns over and everything else appears to work but not the fuel pump. Plenty of petrol. Checked the fuses and they appear to be intact. Had a similar intermittent problem before petrol tank was repaired and the injection fuel pump was replaced as a precaution. Everything fine until today. Have had advice that the immobiliser (plipper in dashboard sort) may be at fault. Anyone any ideas? In hope, Nick.
LazerBrain
Which engine do you have Nick? If you have a Rover K series, what is the led on the dashboard doing? Plipper on dashboard sounds like it could be a Vecta one though - there's quite a bit in the archives about the problems with those. cheers, Darren. CageyH
Check the inertia switch? What condition is the MFU in?
N1ck
Darren, pretty sure now that its a Vecta. Just had a trawl through the archives and they do seem to be the cause of a lot of trouble. Engine is Vauxhall injection. Kevin, is the inertia switch the one with the rubber cap? What is an MFU? Thanks, Nick.
CageyH
The inertia switch is the one with the rubber cap. The MFU (or MFRU) normally sits near the ECU. It is the multifunction relay unit. A small black box. Angus has some info on his website here
ian balson
The thing you dropped off . . . did you carry it in the passengers footwell? May have dislogged a relay, did it myself in France last week. HPC150 Superweight R600kg 😬
Area Representative Nick Chan Posted July 19, 2006 Area Representative Share Posted July 19, 2006 Nick, My fuel pump is linked to the instruments circuit on the VX with the fuse being the third from the top IIRC (one above the radiatior fan). My engine turns over fine but refuses to fire as the fuel pump isn't working... Maybe have another look at the fuse Cheers Nick Now the Orange HPC - A 2.0 VX - 😬
