John Ryan
Hi I bought one of these for my rebuild, then got another one with the the engine rebuild package I got. Never heard it running, but the vendor was a mechanic, and had taken it out of his Westie to put a close ratio box in. It's sitting in my garage. I have no ideas of ratios, or anything else, but I could drag it out if I knew what I was looking for.
Trevor Newman
sounds promising John but i dont know that they will look any different externally
Nifty
The only way you'll tell is my opening it up and looking at the gears. Keep off the straight and narrow 😬
Trevor Newman
does that mean we need to count teeth or are they marked in some way 🤔
Irrelevant
You can count the rotations if you look up the back of the box . . .maybe add a blob of tippex to the output shaft. Counting teeth is not easy as even with the top off, you can't see the lower gearset well. If you knew the matched gear sets that Ford do, you could get away with only counting the upper gears.
