Baby Bucket Posted February 5, 2002 Share Posted February 5, 2002 Hello All, No, I haven't gone and replaced by x-flow with a k series !! However, my wife's MGF is now four years old and she has been advised to change the cambelt - the car has only done about 10,000 miles. The advice is to change the belt every four years or 60,000 miles. Do the belts degrade over time ? What is the consensus - should we get the belt changed (Bob Corb, Oily ???) oilyhands Posted February 5, 2002 Share Posted February 5, 2002 CHANGE THE BELT and while you are about it, have the sprocket bolts checked and replaced if necessary both back and front, they have a tendency to come undone with the vibration from the VVC mechs with resulting mayhem, there have been a number of recalls / factory fixes concerning the bolts.. it a primary mode of failure.
