Inertia switches

Does anybody know what sort of current the Rover inertia switch

can carry?

Has anyone wired one up directly to switch a Facet or Webcon type fuel pump?

What do you injection boys/girls do to prevent a fire risk

if you crash?

I could wire one up using a relay but I would prefer to keep things simple as less circuits mean less chances of failure...

Lots, if not all, of the ECU's have a facility built in to kill the fuel pump 3 seconds (say) after the engine stops running. I guess this does the same thing. If the accidents big enough to be unsafe then the risk of the engine still running must be small. Plus a big fuel leak will cause the engine to stop anyway.

This is why you get the normal quick whirr then stop of the fuel pump when you first turn the ignition on. The pump runs to get fuel pressure up then stops after 3 secs if the engines not running.
