Trailer wheels

i have a trailer that I used to lug around with a big white van, the van has gone and i now only have a volvo as a suitable tow car, the trailer has 15" wheels with what can only be described as "oh my god" profile tyres which means it sits very very high. Does anybody know whether I will have any problems if I just change the wheels to 13" and put sensible profiled tyres on it to make it normal car hieght.

cheers

I don't think you should have any problems provided the smaller wheels can fit over the brake drums. Just go for standard profile tires. Low profile tyres don't really work on 4 and six wheel trailers as they are unable to cope with the sidewall deflection required to provide steerage.

Make sure the tyres you run with are capable of carrying the intended weight .

I guess an old sallon like a cavaliar or sierra is a similar weight to trailer plus seven ? .

Strictly speaking , most major tyre places will only fit rienforced tyres on a trailer - dont know if this is a legal requirement ? , so just take the wheels down there to be fitted .
