1.6SL Exhaust

I'm trying to finalise my specification for a new 1.6SL kit

 

Does anyone know how much Caterham charge to upgrade to a 4-1 or 4-2-1 exhaust instead of the standard manifold with a new car?

 

I do not intend to upgrade the engine for at least 12 months, but I understand its worth getting the better manifold for starters rather than ditching the nearly new original

I am just doing the same sums and I can not tell you exactly, a call to Caterham will do that.The price for a standard exhaust manifold for a SL (from the parts CD) is £325 and a SLR is £492 so I make that £167 to upgrade. This does not include the exhaust system its self. Alternativly I believe you can go for a R500 system, don't know the cost of that. Hope this helps

The SLR 421 exhaust system complete is 1009 GBP.

 

The basic system complete is about 800ish, so you are talking about 200ish to upgrade. Remember that the straight cat replacement pipe is another 250 notes later after SVA....

Caterham will sell you an SLR exhaust for less than 1000, they quoted me 800 for the R500 item.

I just looked back through my Caterham order and I was charged £200 to go from standard Superlight to R500 spec with the titanium silencer. This seems a good system, the main box is repackable and the cat is separate so you can lose it if you build the car yourself and have passed SVA.

 

My order was placed mid May 2001
