Siezed drum brake

Recommended Posts

Hope it is acceptable to ask a question about my trailer!

Has been standing for a while and the near side brakes (double axle trailer) have siezed on. Have tried to release through towing it but they are resolute. Have checked the cable and that is releasing, so problem must be in the unit themselves.

Any suggestions on the quickest way to free them.

TIA

You{ DONT }Leave The Brake On When YOU Are Not Using The Trailer

The Brakes Stick To The Drums Jack Up Remove Wheels Hit Flat Part

Of DRUM With Hammer At 12-3-6-9 points When It Turns Fit Wheel Take For Run

Happened to me long ago, solution the same as above i.e hit it with a hammer but I would recommend that you remove drum and clean and lubricate mechanism + cables etc. before towing. I had a bit of a shock when I arrived at the hillclimb when I used the trailer for the first time, the brakes were smouldering nicely (thought it was taking some towing but ignored it as after 6 months I presumed it was normal). I got a nice big parking area.
