removing pop-rivets

I'm about to remove the interior panels from my 7 and I'm after any advice on the best way of removing them to minimise the risk of alloy remains rattling around inside of tubular frame after they're drilled out - any tips gang?, thanks PS anyone know any decent (quick turn-around) powder-coating firms in the south east

Use a 4mm high speed drill - not to much pressure - first the rivet head will come off then continue until the drill enters the chassis tube. You won't get the back of the rivet out so before you put it all back together, squirt some waxoil into the chassis tube to stick the bits of rivets down and to stop them rattling.

Steve - bravo and many thanks - 4mm drill was excellent advice (thanks kindly for suggesting or I'd have tried a 2.5 or 3mm first and made hard work of it (or worse still a 5mm drill bit and made a hash of it). Panels are all off now and ready to go for powder-coating. Thank again. Matthew
