Seven in SA
Hello, I have a Toyota 4AGE (20V) in my seven. It is fitted with throttle bodies but these just have the foam covering on the Trumpets. How much more power could I expect by fitting an air box and having cold air coming in from the front of the car. If I can get the air filter so that it gets fresh air in would this create some sort of ram effect, or is this just bull as per a couple of previous threads. Thank you Nic PS is the RevStevePierce still around, I tried to send him a mail but it got returned. Jason Plato
I was looking into the benifits of cold air feed last year , as I recall it was around 3% power gain for every 10c decrease in air temp , based upon and engine producing 100bhp/litre . Either way there's benifits !! Dave
cdg
There's a lot of talk about "ram" effect on large bore motorcycles. But these run on very sophisticated constant depression carburettors and the gain is only 2-3bhp at something like 140mph! (Manufacturers' claims). Cold air feed is a good idea though. It's extra power for free! Chris.
