Hi all, i'm in the process of changing engines, Will the sump from the 1400 fit the 1800? I believe you have to open out the holes. Is there anything else that has to be done? Can i carry the dipstick over as well?

Cheers

Yes Andy, the sump holes can be opened up. The biggest problem is that the two long rear counterbored ones will need to be reccessed and reamed out to give a flat land area. Drilling alone would leave a 45* land. I suspect this would be OK but not a 'nice' fix.

The dipstick and tube are a straight replacement job

yup!

you may also need the following :-

drill out sump bolt holes

New bolts or reduce head size of bolts

swap oil pick up

new sponge and baffle gasket

Flywheel needs to be swapped as does clutch and cover

new flywheel bolts

remember reluctance pattern change if your using a newer mems

you'll need a spigot bearing and sleeve too

there's probably more smile.gif
