frankyknuckles
So CC have refused to replace my CRB so it looks like a job for the winter. Whilst the engine is out I will be replacing the coolant hoses with Silicone hoses. Are the items for sale from CC made by Samco? or do Samco do a set for an R300 (in Orange ) www.R300.net
storm
Hi Franky, Try http://www.samcosport.com I know they do sets of hoses which are identical to CC. Cheers Matt the yellow blur
wotcolour
Also try the following. They are half the price of Samco and people are very impressed. frankyknuckles
Thanks. Demon Tweeks sell a set (7 hosses), quite pricey and will take 7 to 8 weeks to deliver in Orange www.R300.net
Wingnonut
Dave, What was the price for the "Rover with a dry sump" kit? (I seem to recall you've got a dry sump) Just interested to compare to CC direct as I was thinking of doing the same (but not nessesarily in Orange 😳) W.Nut . V7 SLR
I understand that Rally Design sell the same 7-hose set for about £130 plus vat.
frankyknuckles
DT quoted £221.30 + VAT for K series dry sump 7 hose set www.R300.net
Wingnonut
I'd have a shop around if I was you. I followed the link above and the link to one of SAMCOs distributors that do mail order (Rally Design) and they have a price list on their site. Its only a scanned in price list and as such the picture is pretty crappy (I asked you as I couldn't make it out) but I can just about make out that the price for the K series with dry sump begins with a "1". Not sure if you pay extra for Orange though . Have a look here, see what you think W.Nut . Rosso Superlight no.
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted August 17, 2004 Leadership Team Share Posted August 17, 2004 Caterham and Samco hoses are not the same - someone else must make Caterhams' hoses for them. I used the hoses available from Caterham in blue, then added to them using Samco ones - different shade of blue and surface finish. If you're replacing no more than Caterham can supply then the Caterham hoses are fine - if you wish to change all the hoses, then think about buying them all from one source. Stu. frankyknuckles
Richard, I was going to phone them today but did not get time. If they are £130+VAT for 7 hoses like V7 says, then they will have my order (even if I have to wait for Orange). www.R300.net
V7 SLR
I saved this page Rally Design Samco Kits and viewed in another programme. I'm fairly sure it says 130 or 160. Inexcusably crap web site.
Frying Pan
Their website is a bit bizarre Just seems to be scanned pages of their catalogue - haven't seen anything like it for a few years! Don't even seem to be able to e-mail to request a catalogue - you have to fax! No online ordering either... Shame, as it looks like they sell some good stuff. Guy See some pictures of the build here. frankyknuckles
Just ordered from Rally Design. Caterham 1600/1800 K series dry sump Samco hose kit, in Orange £177.04 (this inlcudes VAT). Delivery time is 10 weeks beacuse I've ordered Orange, but that fits in quite nicely with Winter starting. www.R300.net

GTD
I have silicone hoses - advice from Parker Racing chaps who looked at the water dripping from my car at Brands on Sunday was to double up (i.e. add extra ones) the jubilee clips, especially round the header tank area, as the silicone doesn't seal quite as well as rubber and they often see water seeping out from those joints. JAG
Silicone rubbers are prone to degradation from mineral oils and petrol. Be carefull topping up the engine oil, checking the oil (drips off the dipstick etc...) and with petrol when working around the hoses/under the bonnet. Justin A closed mouth gathers no foot. Bare
What's the advantage of Sillycone Hoses? Basically None :-). But Hey! they come in pretty Colours.. and the Girrls Like 'em. In fairness tho they are a bit more duable.. how much more is an open question as in the last 2 decades i've not had a Single OEM 'Hose Failure.. whereas before they were a bi annual occurence. IF you must huy some.. at least try not to pay thru the Nose for 'em suggest : hosetechniques.com Fair prices and Huge supply.
V7 SLR
Franky, have you received your hoses yet? I've just ordered a set of the same from RalDes, and I've been quoted 8-10 weeks (even in the more normal blue). Shame, as I was hoping to get V7 sorted well before then. frankyknuckles
I spoke with the guys a RalDes the other day, just to check on my order, I asked them if all Orange hoses take 8 to 10 weeks, he said all colours other than blue take this length of time. I'll post some pictures for you www.R300.net
V7 SLR
Mmm... Perhaps I'll give them a ring in a couple of weeks to check on progress. Thanks.
