Joe 90
I've just measured the bump steer at 0.2 degrees toe in per inch of bump (per wheel). Put like that it doesn't sound too bad, but going from full droop to full bump I nearly ran out of travel (all 12 mm of it) on my dial gauge According to my Allan Staniforth book I now need to raise the steering rack. Can anyone suggest by how much, or am I stuck with trial and error About to unpick the wiring loom
Sheds Moderator
Consider it as 2 triangles and then do some geometry before arriving at your packing thickness. Are your track rods level if measured with a spirit level?
Joe 90
I think the track rods should be have an angle that is proportionally split between the top and bottom wishbone angles, so setting them horizontal is not neccessarily beneficial. Anyway, a bit of rough geometry suggested 4.5mm. I tried that, but it wasn't enough. The height which gives zero average bump steer is 6mm, but I think I'm only going to go to about 5mm so that the curve is always positive.
