Peter Carmichael
I use the 82 degree thermostat obtained from a Lotus dealer, but if I had a QH number, say, I would just go to a local motor factor... Is the Rover part GTS282 an 82 degree one by any chance? Hmmm.

mav
Halfords part number for the stat is indeed HTK605 and is priced at £4.36 with trade discount. price correct as of 14/06/08. This is an 82o Stat. Edited by - mav on 20 Jun 2008 21:02:

Jason Plato
On my K's I prefered to use a GTS1102, which is a 78C stat. I also found the same 78C or maybe it was a 74C stat in halfords by rummaging through all the boxes on the shelf with a vernier. The one I found needed to have 1mm or so ground off its outer edge to fit the K series thermostat housing - I'm damn sure it was a 74C jobbie tho .... sods law that i cant find the box in my garage dave ps - I'll await your reply in 2012 Mav 😬 here is C7 TOP Taffia rear gunner

7 wonders of the world
I'd use the 82 degree PRT bypass stat, 74 is way too cool for a road car and is merely compensating for short comings in the original design. Too young to be old !

Johnty Lyons
It is my opinion that a K running at 74 Deg is far too cool if it atkesa 74 stat to keep your engine under control there is summat else wrong. I run an 82 and even at that am worried that the engine takes a long time to get up to heat and has a tendancy to overcool at times jj N.I.
