cb4798
I am trying to replace the standard brake pedal with the high effort version but the pedals don't quite line up (see pictures below). I did actually manage to get the pedal in but the piston appears to be on the absolute limit (second picture) and almost stressed so i took it out.Does anyone have any thoughts on this? cb4798
For anyone that cares... I spoke to the parts dept at Dartford this morning. It turns out that there is both a metric and imperial pedal, both which can be used on my chassis however, the imperial pedal requires bending to make it fit correctly. They also mentioned that the spacers should be used with both the metric and imperial pedal, although they are in the process of designing one that doesn't require the spacers. russjones
The master cylinder angle has to be altered - they produce a chamfered collar fit insert between cylinder and pedal box which alters the cylinder angle and the rod then slides neatly in line with the cylinder - the trick in fitting the collar is to put a slit in it to allow fitting without cylinder removal by sliding over the arm when the cylinder is loosened
Nigel Riches
Good to hear that Caterham haven't completely lost the Lotus touch, the brake pedal needs bending to allow installation in some cases......or how to make something fit that wouldn't do otherwise. Colin would be proud. But aside from that do you have any other pictures of the brake pedal, as I am needing a new one for compliance purposes, and that in your picture looks very similar to one being made for my car.Thank you.Nigel.
