Bozz
CC don't do the correct heater hoses for my '97 car. It's the 2 moulded elbows I need. Any clues as to where I can obtain said items 🤔 Bozz Yesterday I couldn't even spell the word 'engineer'....now I IS one!!!
F355GTS
Bozz Autocross, Wokingham do them in Silicone, they won't know if you say Caterham but if you ask for a 90 degree bend in 16mm (I think) they'll understand Mark Edited by - F355GTS on 16 Jul 2005 19:35:

Tim_H
In any case I replaced mine with OEM hoses. Caterham couldn't supply so I tracked down the manufacturer (Clayton Heaters Ltd., Coventry) and got them from there for £8 inc. post. Their number is/was 02476-691916 Paul ps. I guess the part nos would help: cx4608 cx4609 thanks. they're the ones I need too! Tim L7 EVN - on the upgradealator
Paul McKenzie
Tim, Let us know if they still do 'em, as I've checked mine again today and after 4 years they're beginning to show signs of fatigue again. Paul
Ged
I've just spoken to Clayton heater's, It seems they have the CX4609 in stock , but not the CX4608 . I ordered 2 of the CX4609's as it sounds like this is the longer one and may be able to modify it to fit. BTW they're £8.50 each + £7.80 carriage + VAT ☹️
Myles
Flippin'eck. Who do they employ to ship them? A hoard* of vestal-virgins? *Almost sounds like an oxymoron Project Scope-Creep is live... Terry Field
I had all this pain last year, caterham, Clayton etc. I finally went to Think Automotive in Isleworth Mx. The problem on my car is that the heater hoses taper from, Ithink, 16mm down to 13mm. I bought silicon hoses of the correct diameter and a metal reducer to join them. It wasn't the cheapest option, but it may be the only one, and being silicone they should last longer. They are on 0208 568 1172 and you can find tehm on the web. I found them very helpul in trying to find a fix - they were not just selling off the shelf parts Terry 1700XF - Team Lotus with flares.
Bozz
I cant see that the heater hoses on my car reduce down from 16mm as suggested above as I've measured the pipe spigots on the heater and the watervalve and they are all the same diameter. Of the two hoses supplied by CC only the outlet hose (longer of the two) will suit (I think) as the other has an offset that isn't required. Another complication is that I'd like to fit a fill / bleed connection to the heater inlet and to that end I've bought one of 'Grimreaper's' magic kits. Has anyone any experience of fitting / using these? I suppose this could alternatively be fitted in the bypass hose if I were to disconnect the heater and do without for the time being whilst I sort this out. I'd lengthen the bypass hose to a point where I coul raise the bleed connection above the expansion bottle. Any thoughts on this 🤔 🤔 Baywatch is calling Bozz Yesterday I couldn't even spell the word 'engineer'....now I IS one!!!
Ged
Good news 😬 I fitted the hoses from Clayton tonight, and the CX4609 hose can be cut down to make a CX4608 The hoses on mine definitely taper, the connection to the heater is smaller than the connection to the valve. Grim Reaper
The tee piece should go in the top heater hose (the one that connects to the top rail) as close to the heater control valve as possible to make it the highest point in the system, top the system up from this point with the expansion tank cap ON otherwise anything you put in the tee comes out the tank top. Terry Field
Ged, I'm P*ssed off that you managed to source the hoses from Claytons. Last year they told me they were obsolete and didn't make them anymore. I spent weeks trying to source something Can you let me know what the bore size and approximate dimensions of the CX4609 are please? I may buy some for future use while they are still available. Thanks Terry 1700XF - Team Lotus with flares.
Ged
Ithink the girl at Clayton's said they had 82 of the CX4609's in stock. These sizes are the best I can measure off the old hoses Dimensions are overall, not centreline of elbow. CX4609 Short leg to heater - 65mm long leg to valve - 180mm CX4608 leg to heater - 58mm leg to valve - 58mm I.D. for both Valve connection - 16mm Heater connection - 12.5 mm
