FIA bar type and fitting advice needed from a seven pro.

I wonder if you can help?

I am looking to fit a FIA bar to take on my first track day and possibly a sprint or two.

There is one offered in For Sale off a 01 superlight.

My car is 95 registered but I believe to be slightly unusual. It is dedion but has drum rear brakes, it has a wide tube chassis apparently and also the tops of the rear shocks are visible through the boot cover, which I believe is important.

Could you confirm if the FIA bar on offer would fit please? Thanks

Not a pro ... but.

FIA Rollbars come in 3 flavours, post '90 de dion, pre 90 de-dion and live axle.

I am therefore assuming your car is an 85-88 de dion, when they had drums (disks all round started in about 89 IIRC). In which case an 01 SL probably won't fit.

I have a spare live axle FIA bar now, but not sure that will fit either.

Could be wrong though.

Early de dion cars with the suspension tops poking through the chassis top / boot cover and rear drum brakes were effectively the same as the live axle cars but with a separate diff assembly. As such, an FIA bar from a live axle car should fit an early de dion car.
