kenny.
Out on my travels I asked for 7ES. Arrived home and they're sixes......too far to take back. Junk them or use them?............interested to know the difference anyway. Thread lenghth is identical but profile of plug is different as is socket size. Many thanks lads Kenny HPC 218 Evo
Alex Wong1697456877
Hi Kenny, Hope things are good with you and the missus. The number refers to the temperature of the plug. 7's are the recommended for the Vx, Some people recommend 8's if it's a higher power variant (these are cooler I think are less likely to pre-ignite). 6's will be hotter. I suspect they'll be ok but I think I'd be happier sticking to the 7's. Then again I could be talking nonsense. It's a while since I looked into this. Kindest regards, Alex
EFA
Kenny, 7's in your engine as a minimum. 8's if you intend to track it. Full Terms and Conditions of this post can be read here.

Paul Deslandes
On the advice of the two Steves I ended up with BCR8ES in my, admittedly high power, 2litre Vx. Note the lack of the 'P' in the part number which stands for 'projected'. The BCPR8ES plug insulators cracked on the Track N' Road rolling road under load and I've had no problems with them since changing. Am I right in thinking you had a similar problem Arnie? You also need to set the gap right or they will do funny things at high revs.
kenny.
Great chart Mick Paul what gap do you use?..........I've always set them to 0.6mm Kenny HPC 218 Evo
Area Representative dikko Posted July 21, 2010 Area Representative Share Posted July 21, 2010 Just a small aside on the subject about the difference of one number. I have just found out after nearly 20 bl%$£y years that I copied Roger Kings advice on which plugs to use on a 1600 crossflow wrongly... It's on a little Formula Ford and would rocket off the line and overtake everything on the first lap then I would watch them all go past on the remaining laps... All these years I've put it down to Aerodynamics of a brick. I've been using B7ECS instead of 8's. I now find it doesn't let anyone pass at the end of straights anymore.... Hope that helps.... Paul Deslandes
34 thou (.85mm 'ish). Steve had a real problem mapping my engine at the top end and couldn't add as much advance as he felt it wanted. The plugs were set to about 28thou so he increased the gap to 34thou and all was well again. His view was that wasted spark coils need this sort of gap to work properly. BarryT
Just to add my twopenneth. If the engine is standard then BCPR7ES's will do fine for road and track, as long as you carbs or injection are set up OK. I've done many racing miles on them without any problems. If the engine is modified then you would have to consider 8's for the track. Barry
