Penn7s news and events.
  1. What's new in this group
  2. The Diary Secretary asked me about travel into London tomorrow. The theatre trip I had in my diary for the evening, is in fact a matinee, so please accept my apologies, I will be absent tomorrow.
  3. This is an earlier than usual reminder of the area monthly meeting., but with good reason. This is because I will be taking part in the Club's adopted charity Prostate Cancer Research “multi peak challenge” this coming weekend. A third time! So I am fundraising again! This is the event: https://www.prostate-cancer-research.org.uk/event/snowdon-24/ The route takes us over the following peaks: Moel Elio, Foel Gron, Foel Goch, Moel Cynghorion and of course Yr Wyddfa itself before the long trek back down to Llanberis. 24km and over 1,500m of ascent. This is my fundraising page: https://www.justgiving.com/page/stephen-hubbard-1715723576246 Please offer something, I will be very grateful. There are around 55,100 new prostate cancer cases in the UK every year, that's around 150 every day (2017-2019). In men in the UK, prostate cancer is the most common cancer, with around 55,100 new cases every year (2017-2019). It accounts for 28% of all new cancer cases in males in the UK (2017-2019). It is particularly difficult to diagnose, with unspecific symptoms and testing is inaccurate. Research has shown around 3 in 4 men with a raised PSA level will not have cancer (false positives), and around 1 in 7 men with prostate cancer would have a normal PSA result (false negatives, which are of far more concern). You can read for more about this on-line. The research projects PCR are funding make for interesting reading. https://www.prostate-cancer-research.org.uk/our-research/ I look forward to seeing you the weekend after next, on Saturday 29 June at lunchtime. See you at The Squirrel in Penn Street HP7 0PX. Fingers crossed for the weather! Stephen
  4. Location: The Squirrel, Penn Street, HP7 0PX Having changed the software platform behind the Club's website, the management team are now making the best use of the facilities on offer. One stage in this is to enroll all members who live in the Penn Area into the group. This is part of the work needed to move from the LoveAdmin software which currently manages communication and payments. At some point soon (not known to me) communication with members will be through the website. If you wish messages to be delivered to your inbox, you may need to set this up. Youi may need to revisit your profile on the site. to achieve this: Log in. At Top right, you will see your ID and can pull down a menu. From this menu select Account Settings, then on the right hand side you can see Notification Settings. If you regularly visit the website, there will be notifications there, if you are not a regular visitor, it will help you to keep in contact if you select to be notified by e-mail. If you need any help or have any questions please do contact me. 07866 44 36 26. I am trying to get to grips with it myself. Stephen
  5. My wife goes to her first ever meeting and gets her face in print! Great pictures and a great turn out in the sunshine.
  6. Thank you to all of you who have added your names to the Area there, I will be experiementing with notifications through that medium too, soyou should get a notification there next time you you visit the website. This Saturday coming id the last of the month, so I hope many of you will meet at The Squirrel, Penn Street HP7 0PX at lunchtime. The Club will have a presence watching the London to Brighton VSCC run. This is always on the first Sunday in November and the Club will be at Handcross alongside Partridge Green Motorsport to celebrate this historic event. Look at https://www.caterhamlotus7.club/forums/topic/274016-2023-london-to-brighton-veteran-car-run-at-the-b2114-handcross-haywards-heath/ for full details. Sadly this does clash with the Club's Annual General Meeting (I will suggest to the Leadership Team that we plan better next year). https://www.caterhamlotus7.club/forums/topic/273880-2023-agm-5th-november-2023-notice/#comment-273355 You need to register in advance to attend this, as you will see in the thread.
  7. Lunchtime - which may be as extended or as compressed as you might wish or can spare! The Squirrel, Penn Street, Amersham HP7 0PX
