July 4 meeting: The Gazelle Hotel, Anglesey
OK boys and girls, for the July 4 meeting we will be basking in the sun on the lovely Isle of Anglesey...and giving our friends living there the opportunity to save some petrol with a meet on their doorstep!
We're at The Gazelle Hotel, set on the shores of the Menai Strait with panoramic views of Snowdonia. The postcode is LL59 5PD and it's Junction 8A off the A55.
This from David Ford, who has scoped out the venue in his Seven in advance for us:
The venue is lovely with the sea lapping the wall in front of the hotel (and it will be high tide at about 20:00 on 4 July). The lower car park, directly outside the hotel, is cramped and likely to be occupied by hotel residents. In any event the proprietor (with whom I had a brief chat) suggested we park in the upper garden car park (approx 12-14 spaces and more in the adjacent road lay-by) which is just before the first "Gazelle" sign and immediately past the bus stop on the right hand side. There is a large pothole as you enter the upper car park (by the gate posts) so care needs to be taken - I drove in/out without incident. It was not appropriate to mention reserving car parking spaces. If anyone wants to eat dinner then they need to ring beforehand to book (01248 713384). Not to Oldies: BTW there are 68 steps between the upper car park and the hotel, so you may prefer the lower car park (which has a tight turning in/out and is single lane but was fine in the C7).
I hope to see all of you for what promises to be another convivial evening.
Regards
Chris
